Real life photography (proof I have been outside at least once)
So preface, I am no artist. I just enjoy capturing things which (to me at least) look pleasing to my eyes and if other people enjoy it too then that's a bonus.
I'm a sucker for a good landscape. I think the reason why I admire this type of photography is because it allows us to stop and stare. A brief respite in this hectic world is looking at a beautiful landscape and just saying "yeah, I am alive and this is amazing".
My favourite image from this gallery is the empty hallway which I took at Disneyland Paris. Even though this hall has thousands of people a day pass through it's hectic gates, there is something so tranquil about it at night. It let's you appreciate the work that went into building it.
Video game photography
I have spent a lot of time in No Man's Sky and I've taken thousands of photos. The soundtrack can send shivers down my spine and I think it's an incredible game which allows you to really get an insight into just how expansive the universe is.
What got me really started on stencilling as looking at some of Nick Walker's art online. Now, bearing in mind that the last time I made a stencil was probably during early secondary school I figured "why not just give it a go?" So I went to my local supermarket and asked for some cardboard and then onto the hardest part... What to make?
I started looking into some logos and icons and then when I was playing Overwatch one night I noticed Sombra's ultimate ability icon. So I thought I would have a go at drawing it free hand (didn't go well).
After the first attempt I decided that I should plot out the points and edges. So that's exactly what I did. Then it was a game of dot-to-dot. (Who doesn't love a good dot-to-dot every so often?)
After that it was simply a case of cutting out which was straightforward. The only issue what that by spraying what I had cut out I wouldn't get the effect I was going for. After a long time thinking about it I realised (with the help of a friend) that I needed to cut an extra layer out for the edges around it. So that's what I did and I like the way the final stencil came out as well as the way that it can actually be used as a stencil.
Like a lot of other people, I own an Xbox 360. Due to the advances in technology over the years, the Xbox 360 and all it's accessories have become fairly cheap. This has lead to me having an abundance of spare controllers due to them being brought when I was going to play with friends on the same console. I thought it would be a good idea to take one of them apart and see if I could spray paint the faceplates. So I did.
One side of hot pink and one side of electric blue. When put together with all of the other pieces it works together really well. I decided to not spray the LB and RB buttons because I feel like it leaves a legacy behind of what it used to be. It's still a black controller only now it wears a colourful mask.
This image is the only piece of digital art I have done at to present. I'm not much of a drawer so instead I just manipulated shapes using Paint.net to paint what I wanted. It's far from perfect but I just wanted to experiment and I am happy with how it turned out! Based on Sombra again I decided that since she is a hacker that I would make her blood vessels computer themed.
So I bought a top from a website and ended up not really liking the texture of the top as it was like a kind of polyester sort of material which I just don't like wearing.
I decided to make cut the top in two and wrap it around a canvas to make pictures out of it! I had never done anything like it before and I'm glad I did because it now hangs proudly on my wall! (And on one of my friends walls!)
